K. Frangogiannis at the Greek-Spanish Business Forum: Greece presents investment opportunities in the field of RES
The prospects for the further strengthening of the economic and business relations between Greece and Spain, in the constantly improving investment environment of Greece, were highlighted by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Costas Frangogiannis, speaking to the Greek-Spanish Business today. Mr. Frangogiannis pointed out that Greece is becoming an energy hub for the transfer of natural gas and electricity to Central Europe, a fact that presents investment opportunities in the RES sector.
The Greek-Spanish Forum was organized on the initiative of the Spanish Embassy in Athens and the Spanish Trade and Investment Promotion Agency ICEX, in cooperation with the respective Greek export and investment promotion company Enterprise Greece and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat. and Extroversion.
Discussions during the forum – attended by 17 Spanish companies and more than 50 Greek – focused on infrastructure, transport, energy and renewable sources, as well as water and waste management, while confirming the active interest of Spanish companies for business partnerships in Greece.
In his greeting via video message, the Secretary General of International Economic Relations and Extroversion and President of Enterprise Greece, Ioannis Smyrlis, expressed the belief that there is significant room for further strengthening of economic and trade relations between the two countries. Mr. Smyrlis briefly presented the investment opportunities in various sectors of the Greek economy and invited Spanish businessmen to take advantage of them. “Apart from the traditional sectors of tourism and real estate, new sectors such as RES and technology can be the basis for the deepening of our bilateral economic relations,” he concluded, concluding his speech.
The forum was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Commerce of Spain and President of ICEX Xiana Mendez, who spoke about the favorable prospects for strengthening economic and business cooperation between Greece and Spain. Mr. Frangogiannis’s discussion with Ms. Mendez, during the bilateral meeting of the two Undersecretaries held within the framework of the Forum, also focused on the areas of mutual interest with the greatest potential for the promotion of bilateral economic relations.
