K. Frangogiannis: Great interest of American companies in Boston for investments

The Undersecretary of State met and exchanged views with scientists and academics at Harvard and MIT, with senior US business executives, as well as with Greek expatriates on the possibilities of applying new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and prospects in Greece.

In particular, the Greek delegation met with founding members of the Hellenic Institute of Advanced Studies, Professors Efthimios Kaxiras and Petros Koumoutsakos of Harvard University, Professors Dimitris Bertsimas and Michalis Triantafyllou of MIT, with whom the pioneering Initiative Hellenic Robot program was discussed.

He also met with MIT Professor of Informatics Konstantinos Daskalakis, Distinguished Professor of Cell Biology and President of the National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation Spyros Artavanis-Tsakonas as well as CTO and architect of the Israeli technological institute Isaoh Kohberg.

Particularly interesting, according to the same sources, was the tour of the mission at Makerspaces at Harvard University, a well-equipped space for self-directed learning and open collaboration, which could serve as a model for the development of similar structures in Greece, at regional level. to promote innovative applications from a combination of engineering, electrical, electronic and chemical engineering, biology, robotics and 3d printing.

Undersecretaries Frangogiannis and Dimas also took a tour of the internationally renowned Cambridge Innovation Center where they spoke with Tim Row’s founder, met with the head of the official Dutch innovation support body in the Boston-based Amazon / Mart Duitemeijer office. To advance this goal, Mr. Frangogiannis pledged to return to the United States, within the first half of 2022, to hold the canceled meetings in San Francisco with the scientific and business community there.
