K. Hatzidakis: These are the new interventions in EFKA

The presentation of the bill for the modernization of EFKA was made by the Minister of Labor, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, after the Council of Ministers.

According to Mr. Hatzidakis, the bill will be submitted for public consultation in the next few days, then it will come to Parliament and will be voted by January 2022.

As he stressed, EFKA has collected 48% of citizens’ complaints, according to a report by the Ombudsman.

The examination of 1,127 complaints of citizens for poor service is pending.

The 8 new big changes

The changes brought by the bill are as follows, according to the Minister of Labor:

– Selection of directors and general managers from public and private sector, with 3-year contracts with the possibility of one-time renewal, with transparent procedures and a special system of additional rewards based on objectives, confirming a publication of Capital.gr.

– New model of governance, with a new organizational chart. New procedure for the selection of the EFKA commander and deputy commander and the transfer of responsibilities to the commander.

– Direct recruitment of permanent (500 people within the first half of 2022) and temporary staff (100) people with project contracts.

– Establishment of productivity premium for employees.

– Establishment of an internal affairs unit for immediate investigation of citizens’ complaints.

Faster and more efficient disciplinary process.

– More flexible procurement system

– Special purpose company for the utilization of real estate, with separation of real estate for private use and utilization.
