K. Hatzidakis: Training program for the security services sector

The implementation of a training program for the unemployed in order to be employed in the security services sector was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, in a meeting he had today with the presidency of the Panhellenic Federation of Money Security and Guard Security Officers. The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry, Anna Stratinaki and the Inspector General of SEPE Charalambos Vourtsis.

According to the employees’ representatives, the demand for services provided by the companies in the sector is constantly increasing. The increased needs for security services must be met by properly trained staff, a question which is answered by the subsidized program that will be announced in the near future.

The president of the Federation, Nikos Papakonstantinou and the general secretary Nikos Giannakakis also demanded the intensification of the controls for the implementation of the labor legislation and especially the observance of the schedule, a request to which SEPE will respond.

As Mr. Hatzidakis underlined, “the overall answer to the issue of working hours will come with the implementation of the Digital Work Card which will start in the first half of 2022 by large companies in a number of sectors including provision of security services “.

According to the data of SEPE, from 2018 until today, 2800 inspections have been carried out in companies in the sector (524 of them after complaints), 545 violations were identified and fines totaling 1.7 million euros were imposed. Most violations concern: undeclared work, non-payment of accrued work, violation of working hours, denial of access / provision of data, lack of staff and violations related to the institutional framework for the health and safety of workers.
