K. Mitsotakis: Now that we will open schools, vaccination is gaining special importance

The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis went to Lemnos immediately after the celebration of the Epiphany, in an emotional atmosphere, in the morning in Agios Efstratios.

The Prime Minister visited the General Hospital of Lemnos, which also operates as a vaccination center for adults and children. He had the opportunity to talk to the administration and the staff of the medical unit, pointing out the importance of vaccination for all, in view of the reopening of schools on January 10.

“The message of vaccination must be constant, because I was seeing the latest intubation data again. Everyone in the country, everyone, is a Delta. Fortunately, we do not have any Omicron intubation yet, but none of the intubated “At the moment, 86% are unvaccinated. And it is a real pity. Every day, still, there are our fellow citizens who lose their lives because they did not choose the obvious and the safe”, noted Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“Now that we will open the schools, the vaccination acquires a special importance, although the most important thing for the schools at the moment is to follow the measures, especially the mask, and to take frequent tests as we have planned, so that we can to have a very good epidemiological picture “, the Prime Minister added.

In this context, he stressed the importance of the booster dose. “We have done very well with the third dose. We opened it before everyone else in Europe, so we reached out and built a wall of immunity,” he said, adding that the wider vaccination coverage of the adult population in Greece now stands at 82%.

At the 130th Combat Squadron of the Air Force, located in Lemnos, Kyriakos Mitsotakis wished happy birthday and a happy new year to the women and men of our Air Force who defend the Homeland every day and thanked them for the valuable services they offer.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis was informed about the operation of the 130SM of the Air Force, by the Chief of the General Staff of National Defense, General Konstantinos Floros and its Commander, Squadron Leader Grigoris Karabitianis.

The Prime Minister praised the high-mindedness, professionalism and dedication of those serving in the Combat Squadron and thanked for everything that the pilots and technicians of the F-16 aircraft, who were at the Readiness state at that time, offered.

Earlier, the Prime Minister met with the Mayor of Lemnos Dimitris Marinakis and discussed with young people who live permanently on the island about the problems they face and the prospects that are now open for those active in the remote areas of Greece.

During his visit to Lemnos, Kyriakos Mitsotakis also visited the winery of the Agricultural Cooperative of Lemnos, where he had the opportunity to tour the wine production unit, while he was also in a pioneering, family, winery of the island, which offers visitors to the estate opportunity to taste the wines it produces.
