K. Mitsotakis removes the Minister of Rural Development Spilio Libanos from the government

LAST UPDATE: 16.56

The Minister of Rural Development, Spilios Libanos, resigned from the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

According to an announcement by the Prime Minister’s press office, Mr. Mitsotakis contacted the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Spilio Libanos, and asked him for explanations for his reaction to the unacceptable report of the Mayor of Sparta, Mr. Doukas, about the deadly shootings of 2007.

The Minister admitted that he should have reacted differently and put his resignation at the disposal of the Prime Minister. The resignation of Mr. Lebanon was accepted by the Prime Minister.

The new Minister of Rural Development and Food will be announced in the coming hours.

According to government sources, as soon as what was said by Mr. Doukas and what Mr. Libanos said became known, Mr. Mitsotakis contacted the former minister and asked for explanations.

“The reaction was unacceptable. Such behaviors are not tolerated by Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Mr. Libanos is a personal friend of the Prime Minister, but what was said by Mr. Doukas about a tragic event is outside the Prime Minister’s code of conduct. The reaction of the Minister “It must have been completely different. As a result, there was no room for Mr Lebanese to remain in government,” government sources said.

The reason for the expulsion of Mr. Lebanon was the statements beyond all limits, in a meeting, of the mayor of Sparta and former minister of the Karamanlis governments, Petros Doukas about the deadly fires of Ilia

According to reports, “they were handing out bags of money and turning the election game around”. The Lebanese who was “present” at this meeting not only did not react, but in a video he seems to be smiling.

P. Doukas: In 2007 in Ilia we went down with bags and compensated the people – We turned the game where we fell with 15%

On February 2, at a meeting in Sparta for the compensation of ELGA to the victims of the frost, in the presence of the Minister of Rural Development and Food of Spili, Lebanon, things were heard through the mayor of Sparta, Petros Doukas, that only anger can cause, as ilial web notes. .gr.

A video – live on Facebook from the lakones website – shows Sparta Mayor Petros Doukas, addressing Rural Development Minister Spilio Libanos, bragging about the achievements of himself and the then New Democracy government under Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis. Mr. Doukas was Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance.

“When he told you about the issues of compensation for the frost, as you remember, we went to Ilia to the fires then, so we won the elections in 2007. We went down with bags and compensated all those who had them,” said Mr. Doukas.

“These years have been unforgettable…”, someone from the meeting can be heard saying.

“Literally we turned the game, where we fell with 15% we would be destroyed, we went there and with two moves the whole game turned”… added the current mayor of Sparta.

An executive intervenes to hasten the conversation of Mr. Doukas on the issue of compensation from the frost and then it seems that the Minister of Rural Development Spilios Libanos intervenes and says “we have to answer this, since then you have been in history with these which you did there… and we are left with whatever to do after this epic “and everyone laughs together…

“What should we do after this epic”, Mr. Libanos can be heard saying.
