K. Mitsotakis: The government will continue to support households and businesses

LAST UPDATE: 12:18

The government is supporting the primary sector with a series of measures, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during his visit to the “Koryfi” dairy industry in Serres.

As the prime minister said, the most important of the measures was to ensure the quality of the emblematic national product, feta, and protect it against claims from other countries, but also to ensure that real feta finally gets the price it deserves, so so that the farmers who supply the said unit with 15 tonnes of milk per day know that they too can get a decent price which will allow them to continue the work they are doing.

He described the “Top” as a dynamic and exporting company, saying that its products are conquering foreign markets.

Mr. Mitsotakis referred to the unprecedented energy crisis and emphasized that the government will continue to support households and businesses, to the extent that the state budget allows, so that they can face it.

The Prime Minister is accompanied on his visit to Serres by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and Member of Parliament of Serres K.Ach. Karamanlis and as well as three other ND MPs in the prefecture, Fotini Arambatzi, Tassos Chatzivasileiou and Theofilos Leontaridis.

“I will not get tired of saying that there is no successful business that does not have satisfied employees and this is something that we will stand by very much as a government,” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressing the workers of the Dromeas office building company in Serres earlier on which he visited this morning.

Mr. Mitsotakis assured that his government will always stand by healthy entrepreneurship and noted that the Greek economy is today more extroverted than it was 3 years ago and during this time the government has largely managed to reduce unemployment and create well-paid jobs.

“I will never tire of saying that there is no successful business that does not have satisfied employees and this is something that we will stand very strongly on as a government, not only with measures such as increasing the minimum wage and reducing taxation, but also with sustained incentives for companies to support their staff, to train them, so that companies and employees can continue to move forward together hand in hand,” said Mr. Mitsotakis and continued: “I believe that this is something that you have put into practice and I encourage you continue with even greater enthusiasm and with even greater momentum in this direction. Our government will always stand by sound entrepreneurship. Our first purpose when we came into this three years ago was to reduce unemployment and create well-paying jobs of work. We have achieved this to a large extent. Much more needs to be done, but jobs are not created without the viral domain. And if there is not an appropriate framework that encourages entrepreneurs to invest, that we can reduce their taxation, facilitate them with issues such as electricity costs, simplify licensing, then there will be no business boom. This is something that we have achieved to a large extent because of this and today the Greek economy is much more outward looking than it was 3 years ago. It’s not only due to tourism, it’s also due to many other businesses, like yours, who dared and are now reaping the rewards of the entrepreneurial risk they took.”

Regarding “Dromeas” in particular, the prime minister said that “it is a business that expresses the government’s ultimate vision for Greek entrepreneurship, which innovates, produces and exports”.

“I know that your company has gone through many difficulties, but I am glad that today and with any help from the state it flourishes, grows, employs more and more workers and in this way creates wealth, not only for the shareholders but also for the whole local community. I congratulate you, because it is an extroverted company that was not afraid of the challenges of European and global competition and for this you succeeded and claimed and got important contracts with the German army and the European Commission. You have every reason and the management of company but also the employees should be very proud”, pointed out Mr. Mitsotakis.
