K-pop: RIIZE backtracks and announces Seunghan’s permanent departure; understand

The K-pop group RIIZE announced, on Sunday (13), that the singer Seunghan 21, left the group permanently . The news was shared on the South Korean group’s social media less than 48 hours after confirming that the idol would be back in the group after a separation from 10 months .

The singer was away from the band since photos in which he appeared smoking cigarette and accompanied by a woman in bed leaked on social media.

The letter was signed by Kim Hyeong Guk and Lee Sang Min, executives at Wizard Production, the company responsible for the SM Entertainment label, which handles the band’s career. In the text, the duo explained that Seunghan left RIIZE of his own accord and reiterated that he had already expressed this desire many times to the fans and fellow members of the K-pop group.

“Out of respect for the artist’s decision, we are announcing Seunghan’s departure from RIIZE, instead of him joining the group,” says the letter, which also acknowledges the failure of the premature announcement of his return. “We realized that our decision had actually hurt the fans more and caused them more confusion.”

On RIIZE’s official account on Weverse, a social network widely disseminated in South Korea, Seunghan stated that he thought a lot and believes that his departure is the right path for everyone.

“After deeply considering whether I have been thinking too much only about myself, whether I am causing too much harm to the members and the company, and whether it is really ok for me to be part of RIIZE, which should be loved, I just felt worried,” he said. “My departure from the group is the right path for everyone. I don’t want to cause more hurt or confusion for the fans, and I don’t want to hurt the members any more, and I also don’t want to hurt the company anymore.”
