K. Skrekas-SW Conference: Greece installs RES at a faster pace than determined by the European strategy

The Minister of Environment and Energy Costas Skrekas started their speech at the 14th Congress of ND, attacking Alexis Tsipras for yesterday’s post for the 600 euros given retrospectively by the government, saying that no leader of ND would think of tweeting such a message , so populist, so dangerous, to reduce its seriousness and credibility.

“This is the difference between ND and SYRIZA, this small detail is the one that shows the very big differences between the ND government and the SYRIZA government,” he said.

Mr. Skrekas then referred to the successful response of the government to the immigration and the pandemic, while speaking about the government’s choices for RES, he said: “Greece is installing RES at a faster pace than the very ambitious European strategy for green transition, with installation in 2020 1,000 MW of RES, in 2021 1,500MW of new RES and in 2022 we will install and connect to the network about 2,500 MW of new RES “.

“This means reduced electricity, for every 1,000 MW of RES we connect to the system we do not import natural gas worth 250 million euros. If the three years under the SYRIZA government had become what they are now, today we would have much lower energy bills and we would and much less dependent on Russian gas, “he said.

He also referred to the government’s measures in order to be adequate in energy and the government’s measures to deal with accuracy and noted that in the last “I save” that closed a few weeks ago, 85,000 applications were made. “We have set objective social criteria and will cover with the budget we have about 45,000 -50,000 beneficiaries,” he said, emphasizing that the program budget will increase in order for everyone to be able to upgrade their home and thus reduce electricity consumption, environmental footprint and to reduce their account.
