K. Skrekas: The government will continue to support businesses

The government’s support to the business community will continue for the duration of the crisis, assured the Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, the president of the Central Union of Chambers and the Athens Chamber of Commerce Giannis Chatzitheodosiou in a working meeting yesterday.

According to today’s announcement of the chamber, at the center of the discussion, which took place in a very positive atmosphere, was the issue of the energy crisis and increases, with Mr. Hatzitheodosiou informing Mr. Skrekas about the consequences of price increases in its operation. market and the difficult position of companies due to their high operating costs.

The minister assured the president of KEEE and EEC that the government’s support to the business community will continue for the duration of the crisis. Mr. Hatzitheodosiou pointed out that despite the government support, companies are unable to absorb such a large cost, while at the same time the disposable income of consumers is reduced, a factor which also causes problems for businesses. And all this at a time when the business community is called to face the economic consequences of the pandemic.

According to the president of KEEE, the following are required:

– Additional support measures to address energy costs

– Reduction of VAT from 13% to 6% on basic necessities

– “Freezing” of tax and insurance obligations

– Increase the doses from 72 to 120

– Funding from NSRF and Recovery Fund for small and medium enterprises.

In the discussion he had with the minister, Mr. Hatzitheodosiou raised the need to implement a similar program with “I save” for businesses.

Mr. Skrekas informed the president of KEEE about the new subsidized program that is being prepared to announce about the replacement of energy-consuming electrical appliances and that will also be addressed to companies. At the same time, as mentioned in the announcement, the minister said that he would consider the proposal submitted by Mr. Hatzitheodosiou, after a relevant suggestion of the vice president of EEC Nikos Grentzelos, for inclusion of the Driving Schools in a subsidized program with the aim of renewing the fleet with new electric vehicles, which are more environmentally friendly.

Insurance market issues

In addition, issues of the insurance market were included in the agenda of the discussion. The representatives of the insurance mediation presented their views on the consulted draft law of the Ministry of Environment, focusing on the issue of building insurance which is included in the draft law, while pointing to the Minister and the major issue of compulsory civil insurance. professions and activities under the responsibilities of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
