K. Skrekas: We are doubling the storage capacity of Revythousa

The Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, visited together with the royal couple of Belgium, today, May 4, 2022, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) gas station of DESFA, in Revythousa. During the visit, they were accompanied by the General Secretary of Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, Alexandra Sdoukou, the CEO of DESFA, Maria Rita Galli and the CEO of Fluxys, Pascal De Buck.

During the meeting, the new data formed in the international energy markets were discussed, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which feeds the global energy crisis. The Greek Minister presented the comprehensive plan prepared by the Government for the adequacy of the country’s gas supply, in case of interruption of supply from Russia. In this context, Mr. Skrekas informed the royal couple about the expansion of the storage capacity of the LNG station in Revythousa, by adding a floating tank that will increase the capacity of the station by at least 150 thousand cubic meters and will help strengthen it. energy competitiveness of the country.

The Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, stated: “We guided the Belgian royal couple to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) gasification plant in Revythousa, which enables us to ensure the energy security of the country, even in the most unfavorable We have presented the plan of the Greek Government to install a new floating tank that will double the storage capacity of the station and will enable us to receive two LNG transport ships at the same time. “We will ensure the adequacy of gas supply and we will shield the country’s energy security in the face of the explosive international energy crisis, which unfortunately threatens our country and the whole of Europe.”
