The new season of “CNN Vital Signs – Dr. Kalil Interview ”Premiere this Saturday (22) in a new format and with special guests. Alongside the historian Leandro Karnal and the philosopher MARIO SERGIO CORTELLA the Dr. Roberto Kalil Debate the theme of quality of life and happiness.
“We have a longevity that we never had today,” says Karnal, highlighting cases such as the Japanese island of Okinawa and the Californian city of Loma Linda, where life expectancy reaches 87 years. The question, according to him, is “what are we going to do with this life that comes in front of us?”
To support his speech, the historian cites research that determined that the recipe to live well would be in a combination of genetics, good habits and solid friendships. However, for Cortella, contemporary society has challenges that make it difficult to put this revenue into practice.
“I think we have, on a large scale, a society that is noisy, that posts everything we can, that lives aloud, but at the same time has a form of incommunication that is very large. Being with other people today is something that is missing, ”says Cortella.
Both agree that in the age of social networks, we must cultivate few friends so that we can have time to actually devote ourselves to them. “My practical recommendation for those who accompany us is: don’t have many friends because you can’t take care,” says Karnal.
On the other hand, technology can also assist in this process, according to Cortella. “We have several difficulties, but we also have the instruments to get out of it: a more advanced knowledge, a stronger ability to use technology in a good way,” he says.
