Kalil warns of obesity, chronic disease that advances to alarming levels

With the change of food practically worldwide due, for example, the lack of time or resources, stress and practicality, the obesity has been advancing to alarming levels. According to the endocrinologist at the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital, Claudia Cozer Kalil chronic disease should reach 1.9 billion people by 2035. The expert is one of the interviewees of the Dr. Roberto Kalil node “CNN Vital Signs – Dr. Kalil Interview” this Saturday (22).

THE chef Brunette also debates aspects of the subject in the program. “We have lost a lot of healthy habits in the last 20 years. I believe we have moved much more. And if we stop to think, rice, beans, which are basic ingredients of the Brazilian dish, can be nutritionally very favorable, for those who eat. Now we have eaten very industrialized,” says the chef.

According to Dr. Claudia, exposure to low nutritional foods and much caloric value is called an obesogenic environment.

“We stop eating the fresh foods we did, and have a difficulty maintaining it by the offer of ultra -processed food, low cost, associated with a difficulty in doing physical activity,” he says. “But this struggle against the obesogenic environment involves not only family, school, but government agencies, industry, media…” he explains.

Experts, however, They emphasize that food is just part of the problem. Obesity is considered a multifactorial disease, that is, there is not only one cause involved. “I think obesity also has to do with the emotional issue, because today people do not feed only for a nutritional and physiological issue. It’s emotional, there are several needs that people discharge in the candy, pizza, drink…”, says Morena Leite.

Heredity also impacts

“Genetics plays an important role, it enters almost 70%. But it doesn’t mean these people are bound to get obese. They have to prevent each other with a little more emphasis,” explains Dr. Claudia. “Sometimes you come from a family of overweight, you have a bigger biotype. The important thing is to see if you are not every year increasing weight. If you are able to keep your weight year by year, your exams and your healthy quality of life, this weight is not as worrying as the person who earns 2, 3 pounds every year,” he adds.

Therefore, the important thing is prevention. The endocrinologist says that basic revenue should be to exercise and not repeat the portions. “You need to respect satiety.” And above all, she points out that it is important to understand obesity as a disease and be careful when addressing the problem during treatment.

“When we use the term ‘change in lifestyle’, people understand just that: that they will never be able to eat a mortadella sandwich, have a wine or eat a brigadeiro. In fact, the recipe is balance, frequency and quantity,” he concludes.
