US Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican Senator JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, have spoken, according to a Biden campaign adviser.
It was a very short call, in which Harris congratulated Vance, said she was looking forward to the months ahead and the two “exchanged pleasantries,” a source said.
A CNN previously reported that Harris left a voicemail for Vance shortly after Trump announced the Ohio senator as his running mate on Monday (15).
Vance did not answer Harris’s call because it came from an unknown number, and he was unable to return the call. The senator’s staff reached out to Harris’s team to work on a call.
The Biden campaign previously accepted CBS News’ invitation to host an in-studio vice presidential debate on either of the network’s two proposed dates, July 23 or Aug. 13, a campaign official said.
