Kamala Harris becomes the first woman to take control of the US after Biden’s absence

Since he assumed the presidency of the United States, Joe Biden has not had a day of rest, but just a few days ago he announced that because he was undergoing medical intervention, he would cede his position to Vice President Kamala Harris … at least for a couple of hours.

The White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, mentioned that Kamala Harris will be the one who will take control of the country during the president’s intervention and recovery time. This will be the second time a vice president has taken over for the president’s medical issues.

America will be run by a woman

Biden showed up at Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday morning for a routine physical, his first since taking office. During the process, the doctors informed that they will undergo a colonoscopy, for which he would be anesthetized and would be under observation for a couple of hours.

Given this fact, Jen Psaki sent a statement in which she announced that power will be temporarily transferred to the country’s vice president. In addition, he reported that this is the second medical situation for which the country has to be ceded in the history of the United States. The first occurred in 2002 and 2007 when then-President George W. Bush underwent the same procedure. However, this is the first time that power has been handed over to a woman.

Following the process established in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the Vice President during the brief period of time in which she is under anesthesia. The vice president will work from her office in the West Wing during this time.

During the course of the day, more details about Biden’s health will be given, since during his election campaign he affirmed that he will keep voters “fully informed” of what happens in his term, including his private life. It is speculated that this situation is due to a declared intention to seek a second term in 2024.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris, who by the way has already done an excellent job as vice president, will take the reins of the country for at least a couple of hours.
