Kamala Harris calls Donald Trump after apparent assassination attempt

US Vice President Kamala Harris called former President Donald Trump on Tuesday afternoon (17) to say she was grateful he was safe following an apparent assassination attempt on the Republican, a White House official said.

The conversation was cordial and brief, according to the source.

Additionally, President Joe Biden and Trump had a “cordial conversation” on Monday (16), White House spokeswoman Emilie Simons wrote in the X.

Biden also expressed relief that the Republican was safe and the former president expressed gratitude for the call, Simons noted.

One person has been arrested in connection with the incident. A Secret Service agent shot an individual carrying a rifle at the golf course where Trump was on Sunday.

According to authorities, the suspect “did not come close” to shooting Trump and did not have a line of sight to the former president.
