Kamala Harris criticizes Trump’s running mate after Republican Convention speech

US Vice President Kamala Harris said on Thursday (18) that the story that JD Vance, Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate, told the crowd during his speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday (17) was “compelling”, but “not the whole story”.

“Frankly, what is very telling is what he did not say on that stage,” Harris said during a rally in North Carolina.

“He didn’t talk about Project 2025, the 900-page plan for a second Trump term,” Harris added. She continued: “He didn’t talk about it because his plans are extreme.”

The Democrat also criticized Vance for his party’s stance on abortion, the economy and the call for Republican Party unity following the assassination attempt on the former president on Saturday (13).

“The point is this: If you claim to stand for unity, you need to do more than just use the word,” she stressed.

“You cannot claim to stand for unity if you are promoting an agenda that deprives entire groups of Americans of basic freedoms, opportunities and dignity,” he added.

“You can’t claim to be for unity if you’re trying to overturn a free and fair election and threatening to destroy the Constitution of the United States,” Harris concluded.

Project 2025 is a policy plan for the next Republican president produced by a conservative institution, the Heritage Foundation.

Trump tried to distance himself from the document, but a review of the CNN found that at least 140 people who worked in the former president’s administration participated in creating the report.
