Kamala has 50% of voting intentions; Trump 48%, says Fox News poll

US Vice President Kamala Harris has 50% support among likely voters to former President Donald Trump’s 48% in the latest Fox News national poll, suggesting there is no clear leader in the race.

Among registered voters, the poll finds that Kamala and Trump are very close on who would do a better job bringing about needed change (50% Kamala to 47% Trump) and making the country safe (50% Trump to 47% Kamala).

Kamala is most often seen as more capable of helping the middle class (53% Kamala to 44% Trump), uniting the country (50% Kamala to 45% Trump), and fighting for people like you (51% Kamala to 46% Trump).

Trump has a 5-point lead in being more trustworthy in handling the economy (51% to 46%) and a 10-point lead in handling immigration (54% to 44%).

Kamala has an edge on election integrity (52% to 45%), abortion (56% to 40%) and health care (54% to 43%).

The two are tied in confidence to deal with taxes (49% each) and guns (49% Trump to 48% Kamala).

The vice president is viewed slightly more favorably than Trump, with 49% having a favorable view of Kamala and 46% saying the same about the former president.

About a third of Harris’ supporters say they support her because they dislike Trump (33%), with 42% saying they support her because they like her record and policies. About 24% say it’s because they like her character.

Among Trump supporters, the vast majority, 72%, point to his record and policies, with 19% saying they support him because they dislike Kamala and 8% saying they support him because they like his character.

This is the first Fox poll to report a result among likely voters this cycle.

The results among registered voters in the current poll are the same (50% Kamala to 48% Trump) and are little changed from the nearly even result of 49% Kamala to 50% Trump in Fox’s August poll.

The poll was conducted Sept. 13-16 among a random national sample of 1,102 registered voters, including 876 who are likely voters.

Results for the sample of registered voters and likely voters have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
