The vice president and Democratic candidate for President of the United States, Kamala Harris, said this Sunday (27) that she is not worried about the conversations between her opponent Donald Trump and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. Kamala also reiterated her position on the conflict in the Middle East.
The Democratic candidate faces Trump in what polls show will be a tight race for the November 5 US elections.
“No,” Kamala said when asked if she thinks talks between Trump and Netanyahu could undermine what the current US administration is trying to achieve.
Trump and Netanyahu have spoken on a few occasions in recent weeks. They had close ties when Trump was president. The US moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem during the Trump administration, which delighted Israelis and infuriated Palestinians.
“I believe it is of fundamental importance that we, as the United States of America, are an active participant in bringing this war to an end, that we free the hostages, but also that there be a true commitment between nations for the ‘day after’ ( in Gaza),” Kamala told reporters on Sunday.
