Sony Pictures has just announced that it is working on a new movie from Karate Kid. The news comes just a few days after Netflix premiered the fifth season of cobra kaisequel series to the adventures of Daniel LaRusso.
At the moment, it is not known if Ralph Macchio and William Zabka will appear in this new production with their respective characters. However, there is already a tentative date for the premiere of the tape.
Magazine The Hollywood Reporter was in charge of spreading the news, although she did not reveal many details:
The filmmaker and other details were not revealed, but it is described as ‘a return to the original ‘Karate Kid’ franchise. The franchise found a new relevance thanks to ‘Cobra Kai’.
Furthermore, the magazine Variety also reported the launch of this new production.
It will be the franchise’s first cinematic offering since the 2010 reboot, starring Jaden Smith.

On the other hand, through TwitterJon Hurwitz, creator of Cobra Kai, and actors Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg revealed that there is no connection between the upcoming Sony film and the hit Netflix series:
The boys and I would love to make ‘Karate Kid’ and ‘Cobra Kai’ movies and hope to do so one day. But this film is not ours nor is it focused on the cast of ‘Cobra Kai’. I don’t know much about the project, but I wish it the best.
Meanwhile, Sony Pictures executives said the film will mark the return of the franchise. karate Kid original.
Although a world premiere date is planned for June 7, 2024, there is no knowledge of the plot or the cast, so the fans of this franchise will have to wait a few months to find out what the big screen holds for them.
