Kasia Smutniak and Vitiligo. A story that has lasted for several years and which, initially, caused the fright and anxiety of the Polish actress and model, who knew nothing about the skin condition that presented itself in a progressive way. For those who don’t know, Vitiligo is due to the loss of melanocytes which causes the lightening of certain areas of the skin, hence the «speckled» effect. If we talk about it today it is because a few hours ago the Polish actress and model decided that it was time to reiterate a key point: Vitiligo does not make her a sad, desperate and forlorn victim, as many online newspapers describe it completely incorrectly. “Years ago a Tibetan doctor told me that I am like a snake, I am transforming myself, I am shedding my skin. At the time I didn’t want to “transform”, I thought everything depended on my will. But at the same time I was attracted to the uniqueness of others. There mine is neither a sad nor tragic nor a horrifying story. It was a long but beautiful journey, sometimes even comical. I only shared a small piece of it, carrying forward a positive message and hoping that my testimony could give strength to many people with the same particularity or without me. It was nice to discover how much importance we attach to our frailties, how much they can shape our lives and how beautiful it is to get rid of them. Moving on, evolving, changing not only the skin but also the perception we have of ourselves. So imagine how little impact an article in a newspaper can have on me now … “Trauma”, “how it is reduced”, “unrecognizable”, “tragedy”, are often the words that are juxtaposed to my physical aspect. Well that also makes me smile. Because I actually feel strong, loved and beautiful, inside and out. But I would like to go beyond this simplification. I think of those who are facing a path full of doubts, difficulties and painwho reads such an article, perhaps in the morning while having breakfast and discovers what was the real tragedy in the life of a certain Smutniak (Sputnik, Smushtac, Muniack .. do you) To this person I address my words: DON’T GIVE UP, DON’T LET YOURSELF BE CONDITIONED BY THE STUPIDITY OF OTHERS, IT’S NOT WORTH IT, YOU UNDERSTAND? SMUTNIAK IS FROM GOD! AND SHE TELLS YOU IN PERSON. LOOK BEYOND, DIG INSIDE YOU, YOU WILL DISCOVER THE STRENGTH AND BEAUTY THAT NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO DISCUSS ANY MORE. ‘CHANGE YOUR SKIN’ BE SNAKE. ps.
