Kaspersky Lab conducted an interesting study, finding out how children reacted to the forced transition to distance learning during the pandemic.
As it turned out, the overwhelming majority of Russian children (67%) who switched to distance learning due to the pandemic noted that they like classes in school more than online.
They lacked live communication with their peers during recess – this was noted by 69% of schoolchildren. Many also did not appreciate online learning because of the difficulties that arose in mastering the curriculum (62%) and due to the fact that they had to spend a lot of time in front of the screen (42%). At the same time, almost a third of schoolchildren (29%) like to study online more.
The hardest part of online education for children was the exact and natural sciences: mathematics (40%), chemistry (38%) and physics (34%). As for parents, 76% noted that they would not like to return to this format after a pandemic, and 73% in general called it a decline in the quality of education as its main drawback.
The survey was conducted by OMI (Online Market Intelligence) at the request of Kaspersky Lab in January 2021. In Russia, 505 people took part in it.
