In the fashion game it happens to come across two women who choose the same dress, including royals, from those who recycle outfits already seen, undisputed champions in this sense are Victoria of Sweden with the clothes of her mother Silvia and Letizia of Spain with those of mother-in-law Sofia, to those who, more simply, have similar tastes.
The latter category is certainly the one to which they belong Kate Middleton and Mary of Denmark, often compared for style. The two future queens, who will meet in Copenhagen on February 22nd and 23rd due to an official trip by the Duchess of Cambridge, even have some things in common.
The last one to talk about was the long dress worn by Mary of Denmark on the occasion of one of the official photos released for her 50th birthday: a Jenny Packham Champagne with jewel applications. The dress is also present in Middleton’s wardrobe in an emerald green version. The Duchess of Cambridge wore it on two different public occasions, in Pakistan, in 2019, and on November 18, 2021, when she and William took part in the Royal Variety Performance. A change of accessories and hairstyle and away with an (almost) completely new look.
Dear to both also a day model signed Emilia Wickstead. Kate Middleton owns it in three colors, lilac, green and blue and often wears it on official but not particularly demanding occasions; Mary of Denmark, for her part, stops at a single example, in sugar paper, shown in Tokyo in 2015.
It is difficult to understand who is inspired by whom, in this case the rule is that the first to wear a garment is the owner of the idea, and both Kate and Mary would seem in perfect equality. The first to show off a dress Beulah London, model ‘Ahana’, for example, it was the Danish princess, in June 2020, choosing it in cream color. Middleton replied the following year, at Wimbledon, opting for the pink version.
A dress that Mary really likes, so much so that it is also the one she wears on the official website of the Danish royal house, on the page dedicated to her.
At least on one occasion, the two wore the same dress, also signed by Beulah London. Mary in 2019, on a trip to Indonesia, Kate Middleton in 2020, in Norfolk. “Royal sisters”, Karl Lagerfeld called them. Never was the definition more apt.
