Kate Middleton “must not try to become the copy of Lady Diana”

Comparisons with the past are as inevitable as they are dangerous. And this is also true when it comes to the royal family. For years the juxtaposition between Lady D And Kate Middleton, the new and reassuring face of the British monarchy. But according to the royal biographer Angela Levin “the Duchess of Cambridge shouldn’t try to be like Princess Diana“.

The expert’s words came after a unpublished portrait of Diana. The photo, taken by acclaimed photographer David Bailey in 1988, shows the mother of William And Harry as he looks into the distance. A photo that Bailey has jealously kept in her personal archive for over thirty years and that she has only now decided to share with the world, on the occasion of the exhibition at Kensington Palace Life Through a Royal Lens exhibition which tells the last two hundred years of the history of the royal family.

Many on social media could not help but comment on the surprising similarities between the two women. The pose and the expression Lady D’s are very similar to Kate’s in the three photographic portraits made by the Italian Paolo Roversi, last January 9, to celebrate his fortieth birthday. Both women in the shots appear regal and self-confident. And they both wear one-shoulder dresses in black and white images which give the photographs an atmosphere of a period painting. So Angela Levin with a tweet wanted to say about her: “I think Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, it should remain itself. She doesn’t need to try to be anyone else, including Diana. It is fantastic as it is ».

Certainly Kate, in these years spent at court, has completely transformed. She was once a shy and insecure girl while today, at forty, she is in the front row in managing the commitments of the royal family and fully at ease with her even in the spotlight. Just two weeks ago she went on her first royal tour (in Denmark) alone, without Prince William. She only collecting compliments from real experts. For example those of Dan Wootton who on the Daily Mail he wrote: “She is ready to fly on her own“. Adding: «I believe that at Palazzo they have a precise – albeit discreet – strategy for transform Kate into the most important woman of the Windsor family, on a public level. On the other hand, at court there is a shortage of senior members to line up at the multiple appointments: so she, who has just turned 40, accepted the tempting proposal ».

Which means that in the future we will see her increasingly attend official events alone. “When the Cambridge’s go on tour away from England, they will perform many tasks independently, each on behalf of her, in the wake of Charles and Diana,” he revealed from a source to the Daily Mail. But unlike Lady D, Kate can count on a life partner (and work) which totally supports it: «The spotlight will be more on Kate, as happened with Diana. But William is not like his dad, he happily accepts his wife’s popularity“.
