Katy Perry was the first female artist to reach the level of 4 billion views in a music video with “Roar “. The video published in 2013 shows the pop diva after a plane crash in the forest adapting to life in the jungle and making friends with the animals.
The singer, who will perform at the next Rock In Rio edition, shared news on her Instagram about the achievement, thanking the people who watched the production. The song is part of the album “Prism”, same as “Dark Horse” and “Unconditionally”.
In the clip, the artist suffers a plane crash and ends up lost in a forest. An animal attacks the man who was with her, leaving her alone. After immersing herself in the jungle, Katy Perry sees her reflection in the water like a tiger and is surrounded by fireflies. The singer then gets used to the forest and appears interacting with animals and hanging from vines. In the end, she enters into a dispute with a tiger and wins it with her “animal spirit”.
The clip was directed by Grady Hall and Mark Kudsi and produced by Javier Jimenez, Danny Lockwood, Patrick Nugent, Derek Johnson and Oualid Mouaness.
“Roar” was awarded “Song of the Year” and “Best Pop Solo Performance” at the 2014 Grammy Awards. The hit was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2017, making Katy Perry the first artist to have three songs with the title, with “Firework” and “Dark Horse”.
