Katy Perry’s new album will have producer accused of abuse

The American singer’s new album Katy Perry 39, will have among its producers businessman Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, 50, known as Dr Luke and accused of sexual, physical, verbal and emotional abuse in 2014 by the American singer Kesha 37. He always denied all accusations and was never judicially convicted : both entered into a legal agreement in 2023.

The producer’s name was confirmed in the description of a video published on Katy’s YouTube on Friday (21). The content features a 15-second preview of the song “Woman’s World ” [Mundo de Mulheres, em tradução literal]which will be released on July 11th as the first single from the new album.

The information that Dr. Luke would be one of the album’s producers had already been circulating on social media in recent days, but until then as a rumor.

He was responsible for producing some of the singer’s biggest hits in the past, such as the songs “Last Friday Night”, “I Kissed a Girl” and “California Gurls”.

As soon as Katy Perry announced the new song, Kesha used X, formerly Twitter, to write the abbreviation of a slang term: “Lol” (which means “laughing out loud”, or laughing out loud, in literal translation). The expression can be used as irony, and some fans pointed out on social media that she was talking about the collaboration between Dr. Luke and Katy Perry.

What is known about Katy Perry’s new album?

In April, in an interview with Access Hollywood, Katy Perry said that her new album will explore unexplored areas, as it comes from an unprecedented place of love and happiness.

“I still haven’t managed to record an album where I feel really happy, complete and full of love”, said Katy. “Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music in a harder place,’ but actually, [o novo álbum] It’s very bright and cheerful, pure joy and fun. Playful and celebratory, a party,” she declared.

The singer is one of the confirmed attractions at Rock in Rio and will sing at the festival on September 20th, when Karol G, Cyndi Lauper, Ivete Sangalo, Iza, Gloria Gaynor and Tyla will also perform.
