Security camera footage shows the moment when actor Kayky Brito was almost hit by another vehicle, minutes before being run over while crossing Lucio Costa Avenue, in Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio de Janeiro, early on Saturday ( two).
The actor was at Quiosque Dona Maria, at posta 6, on Barra beach, with actor Bruno De Luca and other friends. Kayky went to get some belongings in his car, on the other side of the avenue – at which point he was almost hit, but the vehicle managed to slow down in time – and, when crossing back to the kiosk, he was run over at number 4,700, at the 1:08 am.
Kayky Brito remains sedated and on mechanical ventilation at the Copa D’Or Hospital, in Rio de Janeiro. According to a publication by the actor’s mother, Sandra Brito, the hospital informed that he should remain in these conditions for the next 48 hours.
The 34-year-old actor was rescued with polytrauma and head trauma.
The car, a Fiat Argo, belongs to an app driver who took a passenger with a baby from Recreio dos Bandeirantes to Barra da Tijuca. The driver even tried to divert to the right lane, but was unable to avoid the actor.
