A 5-year-old child was killed by a hyena in Kenya, the African country’s wildlife agency said today, vowing to crack down on increasing attacks by the carnivores. The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) lamented the “tragic loss of a 5-year-old child from a hyena attack” on Wednesday night in Juja, Kiambu County, about 35 kilometers from Nairobi. KWS said that since August 8, following a similar incident in Juja, an operation to eliminate “the menace” of these animals had been launched and 38 hyenas had been captured and relocated.
