Kenya: Three soldiers killed by an improvised mechanism explosion in Lamos County

Three Kenyan soldiers were killed and many were injured when a trapped bomb exploded during a patrol in Lamou County, at the eastern border of Kenya. The country’s armed forces confirmed the incident, which occurred when an explosive device hit their military patrol vehicle. The military was moving on a road between Kunga and Sanakouri communities. “Unfortunately, three guerrilla soldiers succumbed to their injuries,” the Kenyan armed forces said in a statement. The announcement states that they were injured in specialized military hospitals and “responding well” to treatment, without further clarification. An investigation into the bloody episode is being carried out, the Armed Forces added. Attacks by the Somali jihadist organization Sebab (“Youth”) are launched in the area.
