Kerameos Prefecture: New Law Framework for more opportunities for children, greater flexibility for teachers

The Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, visited schools of all levels in Ioannina in order, as she stressed, to have a fruitful dialogue with students and teachers, while she participated in the 99th Synod of Rectors at noon.

“At the gates there is a Framework Law for Universities,” the minister said, noting that she has already discussed most of the arrangements included, such as the internal “erasmus”, which will allow students to attend classes for 6 months in another Department from the one in which they study, in order to open their horizons and decide what interests them. For example, as he said, a student in Electrical Engineering can attend a Department of Finance for 6 months and decide what interests him.

The spirit of the bill, stressed Ms. Kerameos, “is more opportunities for our children, more flexibility for our teachers and a more meritocratic and transparent operating framework for our Universities as a whole.”

Asked about the bill under preparation, the minister said that there are issues under settlement, the first step is public consultation, and added that extensive discussions have taken place with all rectors.

Regarding the framework for the minimum admission base in Universities, the Minister of Education, among other things, underlined:

“We have passed the 2nd year, a measure which was adopted exactly as we had promised. I remind you that before the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis someone could be introduced with a score of 0.6 out of 20 – and this was in our opinion problematic first of all for themselves. prospective students, because the chances for a child who is admitted with 1 in 20 to the University to study and graduate, as you understand, are infinitesimal. We care: 1st to give real prospects, 2nd to further upgrade the University, and 3rd to have absolute respect for the money of the Greek taxpayer.

An important parameter of the measure implemented from last year, as the minister said, is that the Universities themselves, each University Department, can shape the physiognomy it wants.

For the theme bank, which is “applied in many countries of the European Union”, the minister stressed that the metro aims to cover the minimum teaching material, ensures equality in exams, gives teachers flexibility to choose a range of topics, while it is a measure “which aims to provide more supplies for children”.
