The singer Kesha 37, celebrated, in an interview with Forbes, the release of his first song after the end of the contract with the producer Dr. Luke whom he accused of sexual abuse since 2014. The song “Joyride ” arrived on digital platforms on July 4th.
The American singer stated, in the conversation published on Tuesday (16), that she feels free for the first time since she was 18, the age at which she began her career. Kesha’s musical career is marked by hits such as “Die Young”, “Take It Off” and the caliber of “TikTok”, which beat Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” when it was released.
“I feel free for the first time since I was 18 and for that I am grateful to every single person who listened [‘Joyride’]. I spent almost ten years in litigation and spent millions of dollars in legal fees. I fought hard for this joy, so I love that people are ready to enjoy ‘Joyride’ [‘essa viagem’] with me”, declared the singer, referring to the name of the new song.
Free from Dr. Luke’s record contract, Kemosabe Records Kesha will now release music under her own label: the Kesha Records . Her idea is to create a safer environment so that new artists don’t have to go through what she went through.
“It’s wild that a human being would lose the rights to their voice recorded in perpetuity in the universe. First of all, changing the case law around this is something that is on my radar,” he said.
“Secondly, I have to say, I’m excited to build a safe space for artists because creation and fear cannot coexist. When you’re afraid, you can’t create. I know this from personal experience,” she concluded.

Kesha x Dr. Luke
The legal battle between Kesha and her music producer, Dr. Luke, whose legal name is Lukasz Gottwald, dragged on for nearly 10 years before the two reached a settlement.
In 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke alleging that he had drugged and emotionally and sexually abused her. That same year, the producer filed another lawsuit against Kesha, accusing her of defamation and breach of contract.
The two reached an agreement — the terms of which were not disclosed — in June 2023 and published a joint statement on their social media.
