Kesha releases first single after ending contract with producer she accused of abuse

Kesha releases new single “Joyride” this Thursday (4), your first release after the end of the contract with music producer Dr. Luke — who the singer accused of sexual abuse in 2014. He has always denied all accusations and has never been convicted in court : both entered into a judicial agreement in June 2023.

The singer posted a preview of her new song, whose video is set at a gas station according to the images released.

The album “Gag Order”, released by Kesha in May 2023, marked the last release planned under the singer’s contract with Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe label and RCA Records.

In 2016, a judge denied Kesha’s request to be released from her record contract, which ended this year. On March 16, she posted on X, formerly Twitter: “First day I own my voice in 19 years. Welcome.”

The legal battle between Kesha and her music producer, Dr. Luke, whose legal name is Lukasz Gottwald, dragged on for nearly 10 years before the two reached a settlement.

In 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke claiming that he drugged and emotionally and sexually abused her.

That same year, the producer filed another lawsuit against Kesha, accusing her of defamation and breach of contract.

The two reached an agreement — the terms of which were not disclosed — in June 2023 and published a joint statement on their social media.
