Kevin Bacon and the first photo with Kyra Sedgwick

A selfie taken when the selfies weren’t there. Kevin Bacon, 63, posted the first photo on Instagram along with what would become his wife, actress and director Kyra Sedgwick, 56 years old. Beside the picture he wrote: “Hey guys, in the old days cameras and phones were two different things. This was our first “selfie” ».

In the photograph you can see the two embraced, very young and smiling, the gaze towards the goal. Sedgwick is wearing a black one-piece swimsuit, Bacon is shirtless and has an arm around her shoulders.

The two have been together for more than 30 years. Really they met when he was a very young student of a theater school and she was twelve. Bacon said in a 2015 TV interview: “I was doing a show. Her mother advised her to see him because she wanted to be an actress. During the break between the matinee and the evening show I was for lunch in a place where she was too. She came to me and told me that she had seen the show and that I was very good. ” The answer, not very kind: “I was a bit arrogant, I said something like: ‘Thanks sweetness'”.

The convict meeting, however, was in 1987 on the film set Lemon Sky in which they both acted. Though Sedgwick didn’t show much appreciation at first, perhaps partly because she remembered the hasty answer from the past: “She didn’t care about me and my career. Eventually he managed to conquer it and the same year, on Christmas Eve, he gave her the engagement ring. It is almost unbelievable how the disastrous beginnings then had a sequel that still fills the two with joy: the marriage in 1988, the first child, Travis, in 1989, the second, Sosie, in 1992. Bacon often shares the good times he lives with her on social media: in September he commemorated the thirty-third anniversary of his wedding by posting a black and white photo on Instagram while they dance. In 2019 she had celebrated the event with another romantic memory: an image of the wedding day, a close-up of the two of them visibly excited.

A union so strong all this time that, however, it doesn’t seem to have any secret recipes. Kevin Bacon says: “Whatever you do, don’t listen to celebrity advice on how to stay married for long.”
