Kevin Spacey lands on Raiplay with the new Italian Sitcom Minimarket: the twist in the Rai 2025-2026 schedules

The presentation of the Rai schedules for the 2025-2026 season has reserved a truly unexpected surprise, which has left the present in the room amazed: Kevin Spacey, the cult actor of American Beauty And The usual suspicions, comes directly from Hollywood to land on Raiplay with Minimarketa new all -Italian sitcom.

An announcement that has caught everyone by surprise, above all considering the delicate past of the actor, who, however, still retains excellent relations with our cinema, as evidenced by the recent thanks to Franco Nero, director who wrote it during the period of the scandals. Now It is Rai who bets on himinserting it in an ambitious and innovative project.

Minimarket It is a comedy set in a small grocery store in Rome that opens only in the eveninglocated right in front of the Rai headquarters. Here the stories of out of the ordinary characters intertwine: Desh Bandara, the gruff and practical owner originally from Sri Lanka, Manlio, a young Italian graduate in law who instead prefers to make a show and dreams of becoming an actor, singer or conductor, but for now he sells lentils and yogurt, and Achalà, daughter of Desh, under cover influencer and secret girlfriend of Manlio.

The plot winds a few steps from Rai, where VIPs, artists and illusions pass daily, and the entry of one of them into the minimarket could prove to be a great opportunity. Or a comic disaster.

During the press conference, Marcello Ciannamea, Rai director for digital and transmedia content, presented the series conceived by Filippo Laganà (who will also be the protagonist and conductor of the program) and Marco Posani, directed by Duccio Forzano.

It has not yet been clarified which role will Kevin Spacey playnor if it will be a recurring presence or a simple guest star, but his participation is a sensational twist for Rai and the public.

Minimarket will be Available on Raiplay from 7 November to 5 December 2025with two episodes a week. The location in clear, on traditional television, is still to be defined.
