Khaby Lame has beaten (also) Chiara Ferragni: now he is the most followed on Instagram

Khaby Lame, TikTok phenomenon, has become the undisputed king of all social networks: now it is also the most followed ever in Italy on Instagram. It has just managed to beat Chiara Ferragni: has 24.2 million followers, against 23.9 for the digital entrepreneur. Yes, “just” 300 thousand more but it is to be imagined that they will multiply soon.

On Instagram the 21 year old from Chivasso published only 115 posts (which are her TikTok videos), against the over 14 thousand of Chiara Ferragni who uses the platform to publish content created on purpose.

A record climb in every sense, in the style of Khaby on the other hand.

In fact, Khaby Lame got noticed on TikTok first of all for the speed with which he gained followers, as it went from a few hundred people to millions in a matter of days. Now it has 75.6 million followers, and has officially joined the world top ten of creators: the third most followed in the world, behind the number one Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae.

How did he do? In the beginning, thanks to TikTok, as many have found a fun way to pass the lockdown at home, where he spent all his time as he lost his job at that time. After starting to grind the first likes with very simple videos, he found the right keys to create fun contents that are still his hallmark: video-reaction, in which he “responds” to absurd videos – usually tutorials – that propose complex solutions to simple problems, which he then solves in an obvious way, without speaking and making facial expressions that often bring to mind Buster Keaton and that yes, they make you laugh. TikTok’s algorithm did the rest: its contents are splashed in “For You” (the recommended contents) and the success has been crazy, global, very fast.

Now everyone wants the “The most famous Italian TikToker in the world” who, however, in reality – technically – is not Italian: despite arriving from Senegal as a child and growing up in our country, Khaby does not have citizenship. Yes, a paradox. Who knows if so much success will also be useful for bringing this theme back to the political debate at last. In the gallery above 10 things to know about Khaby Lame
