Kharkiv authorities say 34 civilians have been killed in the last 24 hours during Russian attacks

The Russian strikes in Kharkov, Ukraine, killed 34 civilians and injured 285 others in the 24 hours to Thursday morning, according to the region’s emergency services and the BBC.

“The enemy has continued to hit residential neighborhoods and entire settlements with deadly bombs,” Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) said in a statement.

Dozens of fires were caused by ammunition attacks on homes and government buildings, he added.

The SES listed a number of attacks that took place in the area on Wednesday, with the affected areas including residential and office buildings, as well as businesses.

“At midnight there was a massive air raid on the city of Izyum,” which lasted two hours and caused damage to a five-story apartment building, he said.

“In addition, a massive air raid hit the residential area of Saltivka. In high-rise apartment buildings, construction was damaged,” it said.
