The Cairo new gastronomic destination of the future? Perhaps, placed in these terms, the question is a little exaggerated, but certainly something boils in the pot, just to use a relevant expression. For the first time, in fact, he arrives in the capital of Egypt at the restaurant Khufu’s of Cairo The prestigious prize Resy One to Watch Award, assigned every year by The world’s 50 best restorents (which will soon be held in Italy for the first time) to an emerging restaurant, particularly deserving of the attention of gastro-storage from all over the world.
To grab the prize as a restaurant to keep an eye on this year is therefore Khufu’sa place with a wonderful view led by Chef Mostafa Seif. Located next to the complex of the pyramids of Giza, in addition to the certainly interesting culinary proposal, Khufu’s also offers a breathtaking view of the last of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Khufu’s: the restaurant with a little Italy
There is also a little of Italy in this Egyptian restaurant, and it is something that increasingly happens – not without a pinch of pride – with the names rewarded abroad in the food and wine field. Khufu’s was in fact conceived and created by Giovanni Bolandrini, founder and executive president of the Pier88 groupactive in the panorama of high catering and hospitality in Egypt. Just more than twenty years old, Bolandrini moved to London, where he founded a successful fashion boutique. Then, in 2008, he founded the Pier88 group, which manages several locations all very suggestive dedicated to the most refined cuisine, such as the Nile River, overlooking the Nile River, or the Pyramid Hillsoverlooking the pyramids, or even Italian, tricolor cuisine restaurant with colorful experiences of live music and shows.
Founded in 2022, Khufu’s is one of the last projects of the group: a restaurant that wants to bring the best Egyptian ending in the most iconic place in the country. Chef Mostafa Seif was therefore chosen for his Passion for Egyptian rural cuisineon whose base building a more contemporary proposal but still attentive to tradition.

Originally from the gastronomic scene of Cairo and winner of Top Chef Arabia in 2017, Seif is one of the architects of the New Egyptian cuisinewhich combines a very personal approach to a deeply rooted inspiration to the territory and its raw materials and flavors. Thus was born a proposal for the reinterpretation of Egyptian classic dishes, such as Mu’ammar rice, an Egyptian oven rice served with smoked beef on the embers; The Fereek, a very historic toasted wheat plate served with a low temperature cooked meat bowl or the characteristic Koshary salad, Egyptian national dish composed of rice, lentils, pasta, chickpeas and a rich tomato sauce garnished with crunchy fried onions. In addition, the chef proposes, during the weekends, a sumptuous interpretation of the traditional Egyptian breakfast, with traditional falafels – the Ta’amoya -, typical bread, yogurt with olives, pistachio and pepper, fries with the Egiziana and Babaghaneush. “As the first and only Egyptian high cuisine restaurant in the world”, reads the website of the Khufu’s restaurant “we are committed to perpetuating the legends of the past for another millennium, taking care of every detail to reflect the richness of the Egyptian heritage in a contemporary and sophisticated environment”.
«We are deeply honored to be recognized on such a global platform. This prize means everything for us, for our team and for our country. We are incredibly proud to represent Egypt and highlight its rich culinary heritage, “commented Chef Mostafa Seif.
The prize One to Watch It is only one of the last awards given by the 50 best in the world of the Middle East and North Africa, a sign of growing attention to a new reality not only culinary, but dedicated to the Hospitality of the highest level.
