The Russian dealership of Kia has announced good news for owners of branded cars. Kia cars with multimedia systems supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto platforms have received expanded opportunities for using Yandex services.
In most of the trim levels of the Russian Kia model line, multimedia systems with touch screens with diagonals from 7 to 12.3 inches are available. Since 2017, Kia has sold over 400,000 vehicles that support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The owners of such cars will now find it more convenient to use Yandex.Maps and Navigator services. Now, through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the main functions of these services are available: search by address or company name, choosing the best route taking into account traffic jams, route tips, quick access to locations in bookmarks, displaying traffic jams and traffic events. In addition, warnings about speed limits and cameras, photo and video recording work even without planning a route.
Access from the car screen to a number of other services, such as Yandex.Zapravki, Alisa and Yandex.Music, is restricted in accordance with the rules of the CarPlay and Android Auto platforms. But Yandex developers have added a “Continue on the phone” button. By pressing on it, the user quickly switches from the car screen to the phone. After that, you can switch back to the multimedia system screen and continue driving along the previously built route.
Separately, it is noted that new opportunities are available to holders of a paid Yandex Plus subscription.
