Kia has released the first images of the EV6, the automaker’s first model to be based on the E-GMP platform. Judging by the images, the novelty will be a four-door crossover with smooth contours and stylish LED lighting fixtures.

The EV6 platform was announced late last year. Later, Kia announced plans to release seven electric vehicles on this platform by 2027 and dropped the word Motors in its name.

As you know, Kia is part of the Hyundai Motor Group. The latter also plans to use E-GMP. The benefit of using an off-the-shelf platform is that there is no need to build an EV from an existing fossil-fueled model or start from scratch.
Cars built on E-GMP will have a cruising range of about 500 km, support charging at 400 V and 800 V, allowing the battery to “fill” 80% in just 18 minutes.
In addition to the EV6 demo, Kia also unveiled a new EV naming scheme. In the future, all all-electric models of the automaker will start with the prefix EV, followed by a number corresponding to the position of the car in the model range. The all-electric Kia EV6 will be unveiled on March 15.
