Kia introduced the third generation of the Soul urban SUV relatively recently – in 2018. But already four years later, the manufacturer decided to introduce a restyled version, which received more classic running lights (in the original car, the front optics were divided into two “floors”), completely redesigned body elements and a more modern interior. Of course, it is only a stretch to call a vehicle completely new, because there are practically no innovations in the engine compartment, but potential buyers will definitely like restyling.
For example, on the front side of the vehicle, you can see a completely new bumper with decorative “fangs”, as well as a radiator grille with a new branded ornament. You might even think that this is just a plastic plug, like on electric cars, but it’s not. There are similar decorative elements in the rear of the vehicle – there are also “fangs” there, but the brake lights with their bizarre shape have remained almost unchanged. Moreover, now in the top configuration you can get 18-inch wheels that are insane for such a car, and the color palette has been completely redesigned compared to the original version.
The interior of the car, of course, has become more modern, but the cardinal differences, as with the body, will not be noticed. For example, the manufacturer has slightly redesigned the steering wheel, equipping it with new control keys, new graphics on the dashboard, as well as a more modern climate control display. But the media system, apparently, remained completely unchanged – the manufacturer only stated that it can still (depending on configuration) have a display with a diagonal of 8 or 10.25 inches. Only in the top-end configuration appeared virtual instruments, an automatic braking system (recognizes pedestrians) and an electromechanical handbrake.
But under the hood, Kia specialists decided not to make changes, only reducing the range of modifications – now the X-Line model and the most powerful version of the Soul Turbo are excluded from the optional range. Now a potential buyer can only get a two-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 149 horsepower, which is paired with a front-wheel drive IVT variator. At the same time, the price is more than affordable – in the US, the cost of the basic version is only $ 19,300.
