KIA will bring its first electric car to Russia next year

This summer, the South Korean auto giant KIA adopted a new development strategy in Russia, which implies the gradual introduction of the brand’s electric vehicles into the domestic market. At the same time, a serial electric car KIA EV6 was presented at a presentation in Moscow, but the company did not go into details and disclose the exact timing of the appearance of cars with electric motors on the Russian market. Only now it has become known when the first electric vehicles under the KIA brand will go on sale in the country.

On October 20, the Russian office of KIA announced the timing of the launch of sales of electric vehicles in Russia. The first electric model to appear on the Russian market will be the EV6 crossover. It will be available for purchase next year. First of all, the model will appear on sale in megacities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, and then residents of other cities will be able to purchase it. In addition, in the foreseeable future, this model may become available by subscription as part of the KIA Flex branded service.

But the company is not going to stop at one KIA EV6. The brand plans to expand the range of electric vehicles offered in Russia in the coming years. Also, together with partners from among domestic dealers, KIA plans to build its own charging stations throughout the country.

Note that the KIA EV6 is built on the E-GMP platform and is available in several configurations, including rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, electric motors ranging from 170 to 585 horsepower and 58 or 77.4 kWh batteries. In what options the KIA EV6 will be offered on the Russian market and how much it is estimated at is still unknown. But, for example, in Germany, where an electric car is already available for purchase, prices for it start at 45 thousand euros.
