A 37-year-old Argentine and a 39-year-old Brazilian were kidnapped, robbed and tortured on the night of last Friday (17) on the north coast of Bahia. According to information from the Military Police, the two men were found on Saturday (18) in the region between Itacimirim and Praia do Forte, in Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.
According to the Civil Police, which is investigating the case as extortion through kidnapping, the victims remain hospitalized due to serious physical attacks suffered during the period in which they were held captive.
In a statement, the PM reported that a team was called by residents of the region, who suspected possible illegal activity and alerted the police about the dismantling of a vehicle at the location.
“The military was carrying out patrols when they were called by members of the public who reported that a vehicle was being dismantled to remove parts in that location. When the garrison arrived, they discovered the incident. Upon seeing the military, criminals shot at the police and fled into a forested area”, explained the PM.
According to the PM, during the searches, the police heard cries for help and located the victims, who reported having been kidnapped, tortured and robbed. A video recorded by the Military Police shows that a grave had been dug so that the men could be buried in captivity. See below .
According to information from the Civil Police, a notebook, cell phones, drugs and two motorcycles were seized at the scene. All seized material was sent to the Anti-Kidnapping Police Station (DAS) for legal action. No suspects were located.
THE CNN the Civil Police reported that they are investigating the case, but that details will not be disclosed. “Investigations continue to identify and capture those involved. Additional information remains confidential to ensure the progress of the investigations”, explained the PCBA in a note.
