Kiev claims it has a laser weapon that can shoot down targets flying at a height of more than 2km

Ukraine has a laser weapon that can shoot down aerial targets at a height of more than two kilometers, the commander of the country’s unmanned aircraft forces announced today. Army official Vadim Suharevsky did not elaborate further in his first official statements about the existence of the weapon. Reuters was unable to confirm his statements. “Today we can shoot down an aircraft flying at a height of more than two kilometers with this laser,” he reportedly said, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency Interfax-Ukraine. Sukharevsky said the laser weapon is called “Trizub” – the Ukrainian word for trident and the symbol of the Ukrainian military – implying that it is of domestic manufacture.
