Ukrainian authorities have indicated that they will sign the Critical Mineral Agreement proposed by Donald Trump. The change happens hours after Vladimir Putin claims that American companies could explore this type of product in the territories occupied by Russia.
The details of the proposal still follow under confidentiality. But authorities heard by Reuters point out that Ukraine has agreed to Donald Trump’s agreed agreement, which would give Americans access to the exploitation of critical minerals on Ukrainian soil.
The White House is already organizing a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the theme in the coming days.
The proposal seeks to reward the United States for the military aid that the White House has sent Kiev in the last three years. And initially, it does not predict any future commitment to guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty.
So far, the Ukrainian President discarded the agreement. Kiev’s change of posture occurs shortly after Russian leader Vladimir Putin, claiming that he would be willing to let American companies explore critical minerals in Ukraine taken regions since 2014.
Despite the nod to Trump, Kremlin ruled out on Tuesday (25) the American proposal to send European peace troops to Ukraine as part of a possible ceasefire agreement.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the movement would be equivalent to the sending of NATO troops to the battlefield. Something the Russian chancellor has classified as “unacceptable.”
The pressure of the White House by the end of the war changed the correlation of forces in the conflict. Trump isolated Ukraine and the Europeans of conversations and began to negotiate directly with Russian authorities.
US government intelligence agencies assess that it is possible for Kremlin to be not really interested in lasting peace in the region. And that Putin would be using the relationship with Trump to gain time and rearrang the troops until they are able to invas the total invasion of the Ukrainian territory.
