Kiev has new explosions amid 35-hour curfew

Several explosions could be heard in the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Tuesday (22) as the city is under a 35-hour curfew.

One of the explosions was so strong that it set off car alarms in the center of the city, according to a team from the CNN.

Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, said that Ukrainian air defenses had destroyed a Russian Tochka-U missile, and that remnants of the projectile had fallen into the Dniper River.

Bombings and some exchanges of fire could also be heard intermittently in the last few hours.

Kiev is currently under a curfew announced by the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, on Monday.

In a statement on Telegram, Klitschko said the curfew would start on Monday at 8:00 pm and would last until 7:00 am on Wednesday.

“Shops, pharmacies, gas stations, institutions will not work tomorrow,” he said. “So I ask everyone to stay at home or in shelters at the sound of an alarm. Only those with special permits will be able to move around the city.”
