Kiev mayor announces new curfew in Ukrainian capital

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Monday (21) a new curfew in the capital.

In a statement on Telegram, Klitschko said the curfew would start on Monday at 8pm (3pm GMT) and last until 7am (2am) on Wednesday.

“Shops, pharmacies, gas stations, institutions will not work tomorrow,” he said. “So I urge everyone to stay at home or in shelters — at the sound of an alarm. Only those with special permission will be able to move around the city.”

At least eight people were killed in a Russian attack on a shopping mall in Kiev’s Podilskyi district, according to information from the Ukrainian attorney general.

That number was based on what the Attorney General called preliminary information, suggesting the number could rise.
