Kikilias on the BBC: Our strategic aim is to promote alternative tourist destinations

Greece is “illuminating” its less popular islands abroad this year, according to the BBC report which hosts statements by tourism minister Vassilis Kikilia.

“Our strategic aim was and is to promote alternative destinations” states Mr. Kikilias, underlining that “our campaign was based on the diffusion of tourists to all areas of the country, especially the less popular areas”.

In her report, journalist Victoria Craig emphasizes that after two years of the pandemic, the concentration of tourists in popular areas is an issue that some governments have taken into account in their strategy from the beginning.

In this publication there is extensive reference to Tinos, as one of the 33 islands of the Cyclades, known for its religious element but also for its wonderful sandy beaches, traditional houses and primary production.
