Kim Jong Un says participation in the War Russia x Ukraine is justified

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said Northern Korea’s involvement in the War between Russia and Ukraine was justified, calling him the exercise of sovereign rights in defense of a “sister nation,” said state KCNA media on Friday (9).

Kim also stated that Pyongyang would not hesitate to authorize the use of military force if the United States persisted in military provocations against Russia.

The statement is another sample of ties narrowing between nations. Last week, the construction of a bridge between Russia and North Korea was also started.

On April 28, the North Workers’ Party Central Military Accommodation stated that leader Kim Jong Un made the decision to send troops under the comprehensive strategic partnership she signed with Putin last year.

“Under the order of the head of state, the subunits of the Armed Forces of the Republic considered the territory of Russia as that of their country and proved the firm alliance between the two countries,” the commission said, citing the KCNA.

“Those who fought for justice are all heroes and representatives of the homeland honor,” Kim said, citing KCNA.

North Korea “considers an honor to have an alliance with such a powerful state as the Russian Federation,” the state media added.

North Korea sent an estimated total of 14,000 soldiers, including 3,000 reinforcements to replace their losses, Ukrainian authorities said. Without armored vehicles and drone war experience, they suffered heavy casualties, but quickly adapted.

Russia confirmed on Saturday (26) for the first time that North Korean soldiers fought alongside Russians in Kursk.
