Kim Kardashian arrives in court in Paris to testify about theft of jewelry

Kim Kardashian arrived in a Paris court on Tuesday to witness to the trial of the robbers accused of tieing her and stealing it under the aim of a gun for almost nine years.

The billionaire of reality TV will detail as, during the 2016 Paris Fashion Week, was stolen by nearly $ 10 million in cash and jewelry, including a $ 4 million engagement ring (about $ 27 million)-a gift from his then fiancé and now ex-husband Kanye West-which was never recovered.

Kardashian arrived at court with his mother, Kris Jenner, using an embedded diamond necklace – an apparent reference to the jewelry taken to him on the night of the theft.

“Hello, I’m Kim Kardashian and I want to thank everyone – especially the French authorities – for allowing me to attend (you) and tell my truth,” she said, starting her statement.

The defendants – nine men and a woman aged 35 to 78 – face accusations that include armed robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy. Eight of them deny involvement, while two admitted minor crimes. Several are repeat offenders, and much of the beginning of the trial-which began on April 28-focused on their previous criminal acts.

On Tuesday morning, a childhood friend of Kardashian-a key witness at the trial-told Paris court as the star of reality TV begged the robbers to “take everything” and let her live. Simone Harouche, who has known Kardashian since she was 12, was hired as her designer in Paris in October 2016 and was staying in the hotel suite during the robbery.

Through an interpreter, Harouche told court that she had gone to sleep in a room below Kardashian’s floor and was agreed for the sounds of the attack. “I know her very well. I know her sounds, her mannerisms,” said Harouche. “So when I heard this sound, it was so different. He woke me up from sleep – because it was a sound I had never heard from Kim. It was terror.”

Houcheche said he heard his friend begging the robbers, saying, “I have babies and I need to live. Take it all.” Fearing that the robbers tried to enter his room then, Harouche locked himself in the bathroom and sent messages to Kardashian’s sister Kourtney and his bodyguard Pascal Duvier.

Duvier witnessed last week that he found Kardashian “crying hysterically” when he arrived at the hotel. After the robbers departed, Houche described as Kardashian, clearly “suffered a serious trauma,” was frantic and terrified by the possibility of men soon returned.

“I heard her down the stairs jumping. She got into my room and had a tape around my feet,” Houredhe said. “She was just shouting and kept saying, ‘We need to get out of here. What will we do if they come back? We’ll need to jump out the window.”

The night “changed your life forever,” said Harouche. “I saw her in mourning during a divorce at the worst moments. I’ve never seen her like this.” After the experiment, Houche said he no longer wanted to expose himself to the risk of working with celebrities. “I changed by profession and now I do interior design,” he added.

Nicknamed “Burglars Grandparents” of the 12 original suspects, one passed away since, and another defendant who has Alzheimer’s disease was considered unfit to be tried. If convicted, some of the remaining defendants may face up to 30 years in prison. The trial was postponed for years, in part due to important cases such as those related to Paris terrorist attacks in 2015.
