KINAL for new ENFIA: ‘No intervention for dozens of taxes that increase with the new objective values’

The Movement for Change is criticizing the government declarations for the reform of ENFIA, through an announcement of its Finance Department.

Specifically, the minority opposition party notes: “The Movement for Change had timely pointed out the need to adjust tax rates so that citizens are not further burdened by property taxes.

We stressed the need to adjust the boundaries so that vulnerable households are not excluded from social benefits such as the Social Solidarity Allowance, the housing allowance, the heating allowance, as well as any remaining protection of vulnerable households in the new bankruptcy code.

Against them, the Prime Minister announced the reduction of ENFIA, promising relief for 8 out of 10 Greeks and a fairer tax system.

The devil, however, is hidden in the details. The abolition of the additional ENFIA tax of 368 million euros in 2021 along with the reduction of fair values in some privileged areas can prove to be another luxury gift.

And all this, after the provocative zeroing of the tax on parental benefits of real estate worth several hundred thousand euros, a measure that favors many privileged, thus making the property tax system inversely progressive.

In addition, the government does not talk about the more than 15 taxes (distribution tax, exchange tax, town planning fines, etc.) related to real estate, are affected by the increase in fair values in 60% of the zones and will be calculated with the new, increased objective values.

The government, of course, is pleased that it is finding fiscal space for tax cuts that it considers socially just.

But she is provocatively deaf when we ask her to support households and businesses from rampant inflation and continued precision and to implement disproportionate taxes on basic necessities and energy.

We understand the need for the government to immediately change the agenda caused by its utter failure to manage the bad weather, the pandemic and the accuracy.

“But as long as he continues the same policy, the descent is a one-way street.”
